While the country’s focus on ICE and the Border Patrol has been largely on Minnesota, they’re also committing outrageous acts in Maine, which is much closer to me. Here are some reports from sources which I think are reliable.
In South Portland, ICE fired paintball-like projectiles at the parked cars of people filming them.
In Portland, armed, masked ICE thugs have gone to the homes of people who monitor them and have threatened them.
Many parents have kept their children away from schools in the Portland area, fearing for their own and their children’s safety.
ICE has made it difficult for abductees to get bond hearings.
ICE abducted a woman who wasn’t carrying her papers, took her to Massachusetts, leaving her kindergarten-age child to his own devices.
ICE grabbed an Angolan asylum seeker after he visited his newborn child in a hospital in Saco. This is based on a report by a pastor who declined to give the man’s last name, so not confirmed.
Tres Leches Cake’s Flor, a Mexican restaurant in South Portland, is temporarily closed out of fear of ICE.
ICE moved 50 people out of the Cumberland County Jail, and the county sheriff can’t find out where they are.
Update: ICE supposedly has ended its surge in Maine after grabbing only about 200 people out of its goal of 1400.
