Some vandalism and a look at the MAGA mindset 3   Recently updated !

My rear windshield has a decal with the text, “My cat is smarter than your president.” On Monday I noticed that several letters were no longer on the windshield. Some were still on the car, in the gap between the windshield and the trunk lid. Given that so many letters came off at once, It was most likely vandalism. I don’t think any of my neighbors did it. The day before, I parked in a large public lot in Massachusetts for several hours. Most likely it happened then, and I didn’t notice till the next day.

Windshield sticker with missing letters indicated by brackets: "My [c]a[t] is sm[art]e[r] than your president"

As criticism of Trump goes, that’s a pretty mild joke, but it was too much for someone. The decal may even have been first put on the market during the Biden administration. It’s the kind of statement I could keep up through multiple administrations. I haven’t noticed any other damage to my car. It’s nothing compared to the attacks on Teslas that have been making the news. More than anything else, I feel insulted that someone thought such a petty act would scare me.

Naturally, I started shopping for a new decal. To my surprise, a search in eBay for “political windshield decal” overwhelmingly showed up pro-Trump results, something more than 90%. By “pro-Trump,” I mean promoting him personally. There were few decals on issues. Some of the search results are shown in the screenshot below, and they’re disturbing. In past posts here, I’ve said the term “fascist” is overused, but these definitely have that feeling. The raised fist viewed from below suggests authoritarian rule, and “Trump was right about everything” is reminiscent of the principle of Fascism, “Mussolini is always right.”

Most of the items are designed to promote rage. Rage can be harnessed for good or bad purposes, but it always interferes with clear thinking. It can make people applaud horrible deeds. Someone was too enraged to tolerate even a mild joke about the Great Leader’s intelligence.

I had better luck shopping on Etsy and ended up ordering the decal shown below. Let’s see if any MAGgAt tries to pull it off.

Decal with text "When tyranny becomes law / 1776 / rebellion becomes duty"

I love the decal you ended up with. It very much appeals to my sense of history. At the very least, I hope it gives any MAGA pause to think, if they can.

I was going to say that MAGAs could think ithat decal referred to the Biden or Obama Administrations.

So, you’re probably safe from vandalism. But it does dilute the message.
